GP (General Practitioner)

Your first point of contact for non-emergency health issues. You need a GP referral to see most specialists in Australia.

Don't go to a hospital ED for non-emergencies — use a GP or after-hours clinic. Without Medicare you'll pay $80–$150 per appointment; with Medicare and a bulk-billing GP, $0.
